Artist Statement
In painting I am inspired, I find a vehicle for that inspiration, and I look for original possibilities within that form.   Images takes shape, collide, fall apart, join, and settle into a picture that is as much energy as imagery.  The shapes of small decisions fit together and become extremely strong and particularly revealing.  I’m heavily invested in matter, sensuality, and the dictates of convention.  My paintings play within these conventions and find new possibilities.

I don’t approach my paintings with a theme to illustrate.  The work gets made between impulses and brush strokes.  The paintings feel reckless and playful to me.  Like chaos, there is a dark undercurrent at times, but things do fit together somehow.
